Choose which Tachometer kit

We currently supply two different types of Tacho repair kit - UniTacho and EasyFit.

Both kits repair failed tachos by replacing the existing electronics with a modern surface mount circuit board. They have built-in push button calibration and can be used on positive or negative earth vehicles. The standard kits can be calibrated for 4,6 or 8 cylinder engines. UniTacho Kit

This is our ‘Universal’ kit - it fits all Smiths / Jaeger RV, RVI and RVC types and most other electronic tachos produced before the early 1980s including VDO, Veglia Borletti etc. It has 4 point calibration for greater accuracy. It works with contact breakers and most electronic ignition systems and will also accept 12V square wave signals from an ECU. All connections can be made inside the tacho case so the modification is not visible externally. If you have a moving coil tachometer you should be able to repair it with our UniTacho kit.

EasyFit Kit

This kit is designed to be a very easy repair. No soldering is required and it directly replaces the existing circuit board using the same mounting points. A small hole needs to be drilled in the rear of the case for the wires to exit. It can only be used with particular Smiths / Jaeger RV and RVI tachos so before purchasing please check your tacho against this part number list and if you are still unsure check your mounting holes and case diameter here.

Please note: Neither kit will link directly with CDI or multispark systems, however, many of these systems have a 12V square wave tacho output signal which can be read by our UniTacho kit.
